Pizza Beer and Cheese Perfume

Ok, so a few oddball things caught my eye this morning. A lot having to do with pizza....

Mamma Mia! Pizza Beer. Um...yumm? Ok so basically if you love to drink what you eat and smell like cheese, this is the greatest find ever! haha. Check out the beer that is flavored like cheese pizza here. It is the creation of Chicago-area brewers, Tom and Athena Seefurth. It's not quite as weird as it sounds, but is merely a beer that's brewed with tomato, oregano, basil, garlic and whatnot.Basically their back story on how the beer was created was because of a mishap in shipping that caused a surplus of pizza ingredients to their restaurant....

Oh and apparently if you really are craving pizza and need it immediately on the go, there are pizza vending machines. These macWonder Pizzahines are manufactured and maintained by a company called Wonder Pizza. From their site: "the Wonder Pizza Machine is the first super-automatic dispenser for a real, hot crispy pizza in three different choices, served on a practical tray in short time, less then 2 minutes!" Wow, um ok, what will they think of next? I mean I get vending coffee or sandwiches, soda... but pizza? I mean first off it is messy as hell, tomato sauce in the lap while driving is not exactly my cup of tea. I don't want to be anywhere near that... But I guess maybe at a sporting event?

HMMMM. Eau de Stilton

Ok and as for the cheese perfume? Eau de Stilton... I really have no idea why you would want to smell like cheese... Some of the people I run into on the metro don't need this anyways, they already pass the cheesy test. Smelling like nachos in public.... Here is an article from the BBC on it. And here is another blogger that has more information, if you are really curious and want to buy some for your sweetheart. I mean I love cheese...on crackers, and salad, I don't know if I could deal with the stench of feet all the time in my face though. Yuck. But that's just my opinion, no judgements will be made here.

Kid Rock....makes BEER?

KID ROCK BEER! Kid Rock is apparently designing his own beer.... that will come out in the mid spring this year. Um I actually really want to try it, just to see how gross it will probably be. This makes me reminisce about Jr. High and his song Cowboy...

Yeah.... Here is more in formation on the company that is promoting, seeling the Beer... they previously have promoted/sold Willie Nelson bourbon and Donald Trump vodka (and, within the next few weeks supposedly, Dr. Dre Cognac)... yum?

Honey and the Moon

I love how this man took old videos and photos of his parents and pieced them together to create this beautiful memory. Enjoy.

Break departed too swiftly....

So now I am adjusting back into the hustle and bustle of school, depressed by the recent departure of mimosas in the morning and delish key lime pie. Spring Break was interesting, hectic because I planned the entire trip for ten people. For 2 nights and 3 days we braved South Beach, Miami. I have been to Miami so many times, this time seemed different. I could not relax, maybe because I was stressed out about everyone else, or the inescapable ultimatum of my degree coming to a head. Whatever the case, it flew by. The first night we wandered over to my favorite club called Rock Bar Miami, it is usually full of only locals, that are fabulously clad in clothes that you would find on New Yorkers, which I love. Although, also upon entering this scene an overwhelming sense of insecurity comes over you when you realize that the new size 4 is actually 2. My friends all from the Washington DC area as well complained to me at 11:30pm that the place was empty, because it really was. And I tried explaining to them that people down here do things 10 times slower, and consequently 10 times more expensively. ($10.00 for a bud light?) At around 1:30am a gargantuate crowd burst through the door and all you could see was blurred flashes of light and maybe a rocker tshirt logo. We stayed till 3. The next night we headed over to The Shore Club. This was more of an intimate setting, if you are ever down in Miami, GO! But be prepared for rediculous pricing as usual. Oh and another place to stop by, the best burgers and shakes in Miami, by far... Big Pink. Yummo! After our visit in Miami, we traveled to the Port downtown for the rest of our trip. The Cruise:Probably the best idea ever. Free food and drinks for a week with destinations of Key West and Cozumel, Mexico.Um ok, so I know that in the Bahamas and Barbados, there are lots of chickens and roosters running aroud because Bahamians and Bajuns (people from Barbados) love...well chicken. But I was not expecting the massive population that we encountered on Key West. Luckily I was able to shoot this guy quickly before he decided to flip out on me. One place we had to visit was Ernest Hemmingway's house. My favorite author of all time (The Sun Also Rises) Ugh, beautiful. His homes claim to fame is the extraordinary 6 toed cats, of which their are 100's roaming his property. Gross.
Overall an interesting trip, Mexico was fun, a little too touristy for me. But I would go back.

Photoshop

Let's see how beautiful photoshop makes pictures. Looking down at one of my previous posts, we will take a couple of photos, photoshop and post. Photoshop can help add more vividness to the colors in the picture allowing an ordinary photo to pop.

Break

So as most right now, I am looking forward to break, coming quickly and lasting for at least enough time to catch my breath. The last few weeks have been more than hectic, I have not been able to get out and do the photography that I have wanted to do. Although I have three photo shoots set up with different people. One is for a portfolio, and the others are just for fun. Pretty sure about the locations on each, I hate being confined to a studio, oh and natural light is the best on everyone, do not let anyone tell you differently! So I guess for right now I will post up pictures from last spring break...and see if I can be transported there, if only for a minute.

Galleries

So while fooling around on the web I came across some interesting galleries, including this one from the National Portrait Gallery of all the past US Vice Presidents who became President.
And here is the new picture of President Obama that they have on display, if you have the chance I urge you to go and visit this gallery that is overshadowed by the National Galleries of Art and History.

One exhibit that I am looking forward to is
Reflections/ Refractions: Self-Portraiture in the Twentieth Century. This particular one is going to be about issues of understanding identity in the past century. Included in the exhibition are self portraits by Edward Hopper, Charles Sheeler, Louise Nevelson, Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, David Hockney, Chuck Close, Larry Rivers, Jacob Lawrence and Faith Ringgold.

Weekend

Love to hate Valentines Day am I right? This year was a so so one I guess. My date and I ended up going to the National American Indian Museum to watch Peruvian Scissor dancers, and eat hoards of chocolate. Then to a curiously funny little book store and onto a wine bar for dinner in Cleveland Park, and after that a Jazz Concert in a place that reminded me of Harlem. The original soul train if you please. It was fun, random, somewhat romantic, not the cab fares...Gotta love D.C. Sadly the pictures of the Peruvian dancers are not yet developed, but I will post as soon as they become available.

A new year, a new blog

So here are a couple of shots from my holiday trips. The settings are Cat Cay, Bahamas; Miami, Florida and various places in the Caribbean.

The first on th
e left are at a friends house in the Bahamas. The two boys normally twitching with anticipation on the tips of their toes towards everything, finally settled down for about 2.5 seconds for me to photograph them. During the entire holiday the group that I was vacationing with shared my passion for being out on the water and deep sea fishing. So every day we took boats out to the nearest drop off surrounding the islands to find snapper, mahi mahi, tuna and wahu's. The pictures under and beside the pink snappers are of a ship that we found entrenched since WWI. Made of concrete and steel, surrounded by sharks it made for an impressive find.

"A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know." - Diane Arbus

This blog is a collection of my own work, thoughts, critiques on photography. I have been taking pictures since the age of 12 when I received my first camera that my mother handed down to me. A Pentax. Most of the pictures I take are in real life settings. The subjects I choose range from many different sizes shapes and ethnicity, genders, cultures, young and old. Then by placing or capturing them in their natural environment, it is easy to figure out what makes them tick, what their story is.

For now here's a link to some National Geographic pictures. "The Perfect Photo"
